A Dynamic Investment Approach in Asian Markets

Based in Hong Kong, Solitude Capital Management is an investment firm that employs a fundamental value investment process to secure positive results for its targeted investors, which include endowments, foundations, family offices, and pension funds. Led by Founding Partners Joel Werner and Angela Li Wan in 2014, Solitude Capital primarily invests in companies in Asia or those that do most of their business on the continent. The firm's four-person executive team adheres to a consistent investment philosophy, but follows a dynamic approach in investment selection, allowing for the flow of capital to promising ideas in diverse sectors throughout the region. 

 

Combined, the executive team members at Solitude Capital bring several decades of experience to the firm's investment management process and philosophy. Prior to launching Solitude Capital in 2014, Werner served as a managing director at ChinaRock Capital Management. He has also spent time as a portfolio manager at Plural Investments and Sandelman Partners. He co-established the former's Europe office in London and managed a European long/short equity strategy. He holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and bachelor of science in finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. 

 

The other three executives at Solitude Capital include Founding Partner and Head of Research Angela Li Wan, COO and Partner Derek Bednarski, and Investment Analyst Kireet Atluri. Li Wan worked alongside Werner at ChinaRock before co-founding Solitude Capital. She holds an MBA from Columbia Business School. 

 

Bednarski previously spent two years as director of operations for Oasis Management, LLC, in Hong Kong. He is a member of the Hong Kong Society of Financial Analysts. Atluri, a former associate at Voya Investment Management, holds an MBA from the Chicago Booth School of Business and speaks five languages. V-Nee Yeh serves as the firm's honorary chairman.
